Chapter 6. Being polite 존댓말

Hi guys, 

Today's chapter is 존댓말. How can we speak more politely? please check this video. 

 

1. 존댓말 [jon-daet-mal] & 반말 [jon-daet-mal]

 

존댓말 To Older people / Strangers:

Polite ending with -요 / More formal situations -ᄇ/습니다 

** Consonant + 습니다 / Vowel + ᄇ니다

 

반말 To Younger people / Friends

 

Tip. I 나는 (Casual) / 저는 (Polite/Formal)
Ex: I like dog.
반말: 나는 강아지 좋아해 [na-neun-gang-a-ji-jo-a-hae]
존댓말: 저는 강아지 좋아해요 [jeo-neun-gang-a-ji-jo-a-hae-yo] 

존댓말+: 저는 강아지 좋아합니다 [jeo-neun-gang-a-ji-jo-a-ham-ni-da]
