1.  태극기[Tae guk gi]

 

태극기 is the flag of South Korea. 

The white backgrorund symbolizes purity and peacefulness.

Also White is a traditional color in Korean culture.

The circle in the center represents balance in the universe.

The four trigrams symbolize heaven, earth, water and fire.

 

 

2. 원[Won]

 

Yi Hwang(1,000KRW) and Yi I (5,000KRW) were both Korean

philosophers and writers of the Chosun Dynasty.

Sejong the Great(10,000KRW) was the 4th king of the Joseon

Dynasty. Shin Saimdang(50,000KRW) was a Korean artist,

writer, calligraphist, and poet.
